Kent Burgess is a principal in CohnReznick's Government practice focusing on state government consulting. Based in the Austin office, he has more than 15 years of experience in project management and information technology, serving in roles focused on program and project management, disaster recovery, grant and contract management, and business process improvement for state government agencies. His other areas of expertise include technology planning, data analysis, quality control and assurance, procurement and contracting, strategic planning, and financial and management reporting.
Kent has served in project management roles for CohnReznick engagements in Texas, Illinois, Louisiana, and Mississippi, assisting these states in administering disaster recovery programs funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). His responsibilities have included Stafford Act compliance for disaster recovery projects, application of the OMB Super Circular (2 CFR Part 200) requirements for federally funded projects, and development and implementation of compliance and monitoring programs for disaster recovery projects following Superstorm Sandy and Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Ike, and Gustav.
Prior to joining CohnReznick, Kent was involved in information systems management and wireless broadband technology development at a telecommunications giant after serving as an information systems engineer in the United States Marine Corps. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP).
