Darin James, CPA, is a tax partner with CohnReznick, where he specializes in the technology, manufacturing and distribution, retail and consumer, and private equity industries. He has over 25 years of experience focusing in the areas of corporate and partnership taxation, and is also a subject matter expert for ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes. Darin works with a range of tax planning issues, including accounting method changes, domestic and international restructuring transactions, and section 382 and earnings and profits studies.

In the private equity sector, Darin is responsible for a variety of corporate and partnership mergers and acquisition transactions including assisting multiple private equity portfolio companies throughout the initial public offering process.  Darin is widely experienced with the issues that companies have throughout the acquisition process including issues related to purchase accounting upon acquisition and revenue recognition including percentage of completion issues and other accounting methods.  Prior to joining CohnReznick, he served as the tax partner on a private equity portfolio company that recently completed an initial public offering.  Darin and his team assisted the portfolio company in all aspects of its income tax process, including income tax provision, corporate and partnership income tax compliance, SEC filings, and income tax planning and structuring.

Darin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colorado Society of CPAs, and the Missouri Society of CPAs.
