Richard Shevak is a principal in CohnReznick's National Tax practice and heads CohnReznick's tax fixed asset and accounting methods practice. He has nearly 15 years of diversified public accounting and government experience and has extensive experience providing tax services for clients in the real estate, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and technology industries. His experience includes tax planning, consulting, and IRS examination support in connection with accounting methods issues including timing, UNICAP, LIFO, 199, and the repair regulations.
Prior to joining CohnReznick, Richard worked for a top 10 accounting firm as a director in its strategic federal tax services group and was the leader of that firm’s west region accounting methods practice. He also served as that firm’s primary national accounting methods resource. He has also worked as an attorney advisor in the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Income Tax and Accounting where he advised on tax accounting method issues.
Richard began his career as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. He has authored or co-authored articles that have been published for Tax Advisor, The Tax Executive, and the National Association of Manufacturers. He has also spoken at numerous events for the Tax Executives Institute, the American Bar Association, and the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants, among others.
