Shelters to Shutters Names Board of Directors


Washington, D.C. – Shelters to Shutters, a non-profit organization that works with apartment industry and real estate professionals to offer opportunity and economic independence to the homeless, recognized eight individuals who have been selected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. The individuals were named at a kick-off reception on September 17 at the National Restaurant Association in Washington, D.C.

The members include several multifamily housing executives, former U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) officials, experts on homelessness, and a noted author. In addition to announcing the Board of Directors, the event will also offer an opportunity to hear firsthand from two Shelters to Shutters program participants who have successfully transitioned from homeless to self-sufficiency through the Shelters to Shutters program.

The Board Members are:

  • Christopher C. Finlay, Managing Partner, Middleburg Real Estate Partners
  • Brian Montgomery, Vice Chairman, The Collingwood Group
  • David B. Woodward, Managing Partner, Head of Multifamily, Brookfield Property Group
  • Kenneth M. Donohue, Director and Senior Advisor, CohnReznick Advisory - Government Service
  • Denise Dunckel, Vice President, Public Affairs, The Beer Institute; former Senior Associate Director, Federal Housing Finance Agency
  • Tom Barnett, Program Manager, Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness
  • Martha Newton, Executive Director, Shelters to Shutters
  • Will Harlan, Editor, Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine

Shelters to Shutters provides housing and employment opportunities to the homeless by educating and engaging real estate/property management leaders and encouraging action within their communities.
