Certified Public Accountant
Serves utilities, independent power producers, utility scale and commercial and industrial developers, corporate and foreign investors, and other clean tech businesses such as large-scale energy storage
Specialized industry expertise and routinely performs accounting consulting services advising clients on significant transactions and accounting issues impacting renewable energy investors and sponsors. This incudes accounting for power purchase agreements and other off-take arrangements (leases, derivatives, revenue recognition), partnership investments (consolidation and equity method investments), asset acquisitions and business combinations, debt and equity transactions, derivative financial instruments and embedded features, investment tax credits and incentives, and Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) accounting that is commonly used in tax equity deal structures
Deep industry knowledge and understanding of AICPA and PCAOB auditing standards, SOX compliance, and SEC financial reporting requirements
Experience with Inflation Reduction Act requirements including prevailing wage & apprenticeship, domestic content, and Foreign Entity of Concern rules. Supports developers, investors, and manufacturers by managing tax credit compliance efforts across federal renewable energy incentive programs, including Sections 48, 48E, 45, 45Y, 45Q, 45V, 45X, and 45Z
Spent two years in a Big Four national office advising clients of the accounting models and financial reporting considerations associated with complex financial instrument transactions, including the accounting associated with debt and equity instruments, derivative and hedging transactions, and commodity contracts
Has authored guidance on the interpretation and implementation of accounting standards and financial reporting trends impacting power & utilities companies, which have been widely utilized in the industry
Has assisted organizations with financial due diligence efforts associated with potential targets and has led the purchase accounting efforts of several multi-billion-dollar acquisitions, including transactions in the renewable energy industry
Led the historical carve out financial statement audits of multiple renewable energy project financing transactions, assisting companies with the complexities of SEC reporting and technical accounting positions
Extensive experience auditing private and public clients in the industry span from start-up enterprises to well-established Fortune 500 companies. Has led the integrated audits of several diversified Fortune 500 power & utility companies
