In the Community
We’re accountants. But we’re also teachers, coaches and community builders who are passionate about giving back to others. This philosophy has been part of CohnReznick since our founding in 1919 when Julius H. Cohn said, "If you do your best to serve faithfully your community, your clients, and your associates, success will most surely follow."
Under the stewardship of CohnReznick's National Social Impact Committee, the firm recently launched CohnReznick CARES, our community service “call to action” that demonstrates our commitment to Community, Advocacy, Responsibility, Education, and Service. The purpose of CohnReznick CARES is to communicate the firm’s deep commitment to community involvement while serving as the umbrella for the diverse charitable activities and initiatives we support on both a national and office (local) level.
CohnReznick is committed to supporting our clients and communities. Learn more about CohnReznick CARES, Pay if Forward and local outreach initiatives. Providing forward thinking solutions to our clients is what CohnReznick does, faithfully serving our communities is who we are.
Our Service Initiatives
Pay it Forward Program
One of our most popular and successful charitable endeavors is modeled after the movie, Pay it Forward, which tells the true story of a young boy who does good deeds for others in need. In doing so, he asks that they pass on a good deed to another person, thereby “paying forward” an act of kindness.
In that spirit, CohnReznick has implemented a firm-wide ‘Pay It Forward’ initiative. Each December, employees receive a little something extra in their paychecks with the hope that they’ll “Pay it Forward” to organizations meaningful to them by making contributions. Motivated employees often turn their incentive into hundreds of dollars or more through fundraisers and creative sales. From funding cancer research to helping children a continent away, CohnReznick employees rise to the challenge bigger and better each year!
On a national basis, CohnReznick proudly supports four major charities. Each of these organizations serves as the embodiment of what community service is all about – helping the people that truly need our help. So whether it is serving the emotional needs of abused children or those with life-threatening illnesses, or helping the families of soldiers killed in the line of duty, CohnReznick and our employees gladly contribute our time, talent and resources in helping to promote the worthy causes of these outstanding institutions.
Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation
Founded in 2002 by baseball legend Joe Torre and his wife, Ali, the Safe at Home Foundation helps thousands of middle- and high-school students who live in abusive family environments learn the skills they need to recognize abuse, overcome their fears and get help. With programs in New York and Los Angeles, Safe at Home also sponsors anti-violence campaigns, developmental workshops focusing on coping and leadership skills, and educational forums for school staff and parents.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions by granting them wishes that give them laughter, strength, hope and joy. CohnReznick is proud to be the leading corporate donor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in New Jersey and to have helped grant the wishes of more than 100 children in the state.
Medhen Orphan Relief Effort (M.O.R.E.)
CohnReznick partner Anthony Zecca is one of the co-founders of this organization, which provides 100 percent of the funding for the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program of the Medhen Social Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The program provides educational, nutritional, housing, medical and financial support to nearly 1,000 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
Special Operations Warrior Foundation
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides college scholarships, financial aid and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in the line of duty. It also provides immediate financial assistance to Special Operations personnel severely wounded in the global war on terror
