Dan Cherwin joins CohnReznick as assurance partner in commercial real estate
Dan Cherwin joins CohnReznick's Commercial Real Estate practice, bringing more than 20 years of real estate accounting, auditing, and financial reporting experience.
Chicago, IL — October 26, 2026 — CohnReznick, a leading professional services firm, today announced that Dan Cherwin (Opens a new window), CPA, has joined the firm as an Assurance Partner in its Commercial Real Estate practice.
Based in the firm's Chicago office, Cherwin brings more than 20 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting for real estate and investment entities. His experience includes serving public and private real estate investment trusts (REITs), private equity real estate investment funds and advisors, and real estate operating companies across a broad range of property sectors.
Cherwin advises clients on the accounting implications of significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, fair value accounting, and lease accounting. He also provides guidance on FASB and SEC reporting requirements, investment company reporting, and emerging accounting and regulatory developments. In his new role, he will lead assurance engagements, support the development of professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of CohnReznick's Chicago practice.

Prior to joining CohnReznick, Cherwin held partner positions at large global accounting firms and a senior manager role at a Big Four firm. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Marquette University.
