Tom Greenawalt is a partner in CohnReznick’s Construction Industry Practice and has more than 26 years of experience in public accounting. Based in the Bethesda office, Tom works closely with general contractors, subcontractors, homebuilders, real estate owners and developers, and other organizations such as architects, engineers, and suppliers operating in the construction and real estate industries. He maintains a high level of personal involvement with his clients, providing accounting, attest, tax, and consulting services that are tailored to each client’s specific goals, needs, and circumstances. In addition, his knowledge of the GAAP, tax, and operational aspects of the construction and real estate industries allows him to develop solutions and best practices that can produce desired results.
Tom provides engagement planning, management, and oversight as well as quality assurance on numerous financial statement audit and review engagements. He is also responsible for tax planning and compliance for a multitude of flow-through entities and their individual owners. He provides services that include consulting on operational issues, technology issues, banking and surety matters, labor and overhead rate analysis, and development of buy/sell arrangements, estate plans, and transfers of family businesses. Tom has served as interim CFO for several clients on an outsourced basis and has provided services ranging from the development and implementation of internal control programs to the application of specialized agreed upon procedures. He has provided these services to privately-held and publicly-traded companies as well as federal and local governmental agencies.
Tom has served on several industry committees and has lectured on a variety of topics affecting the construction industry. He is a CPA, a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional, and currently serves on the board of the Mid-Atlantic Surety Association as its Treasurer.
