Richard S. Chase is a principal in CohnReznick’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice. Based in Chicago, he has extensive experience as a tax specialist and attorney in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, tax due diligence, and tax structuring. 

Richard has deep knowledge of the tax due diligence and tax structuring processes and has evaluated the tax risks associated with more than 1,500 proposed merger and acquisition transactions. These include both buy-side and sell-side deals ranging from $5 million to more than $5 billion. His expertise spans a broad range of industries including automotive, consumer products, technology, health care, pharmaceutical, energy, real estate, financial services, media/marketing, manufacturing, retail services, construction, chemical, logistics, and food and beverage. 

Before joining CohnReznick, Richard served as Managing Director – Transaction Tax Advisory Services Leader for a multinational financial consultancy firm, helping that firm’s TAS tax group grow by 500%. In this role, he oversaw federal/state income taxes, sales/use taxes, property taxes, payroll taxes, escheat/unclaimed property, and foreign tax risks for more than 1,500 proposed transactions. Prior to this, Richard worked for a large private equity firm, helping manage more than 100 portfolio investments from a tax perspective.
