Emily Butler, CPA, is a partner in CohnReznick’s Bethesda office and a member of the Firm’s Assurance Practice. She has more than 13 years of public accounting experience in providing client services in the areas of audit, reviews and compilations, and other relevant accounting services. This experience includes working with real estate funds, real estate developers, not-for-profit organizations, and owners and operators of the following assets: hotels, office, flex, industrial, multifamily, single family, land, and condos. Emily is experienced with the requirements of investment funds and with Investment Company Guide – Fair Value, GAAP cost basis, and income tax basis reporting.
Emily is responsible for planning and performing all aspects of her audit engagements. This includes the review and evaluation of internal control systems, the determination of audit scope, selection of procedures to be applied, supervision of staff, and work paper review. Additionally, she is responsible for client communications, preparation of financial statements, and the identification, resolution, and summary of audit issues.
In addition to client responsibilities, Emily has led firm-sponsored recruitment discussions and presentations and instructed continuing education courses for client and professional staff covering such topics as not-for-profit organizations, basic real estate concepts, and audit methodology.
