What is Cyber Overwatch?

CohnReznick’s Cyber Overwatch is a suite of services designed to bridge the gap between leadership teams and the IT function. Many executives rely on internal IT teams or managed service providers (MSPs) to protect their organization yet often lack visibility into whether risks are properly addressed and expectations are being met. This lack of clarity – combined with the highly technical nature of IT and cybersecurity operations – can make it difficult to validate processes, controls, and reporting. As a result, organizations may face cybersecurity gaps that attackers can exploit or compliance failures that put them at risk.

Cyber Overwatch addresses these challenges by providing ongoing, independent analysis of IT and cybersecurity activities. We deliver clear, actionable insights that empower leadership to recognize vulnerabilities, hold teams accountable, and make informed decisions about risk management and resource allocation. By offering transparency and oversight, Cyber Overwatch helps organizations strengthen accountability and continuously improve their IT and cybersecurity posture.

Why Cyber Overwatch matters

Business leaders gain the confidence that their cybersecurity posture is being independently validated – enabling transparency, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals.  It is ideal for organizations that:

  • Want to manage IT and cybersecurity risks more effectively but lack independent reporting between management and IT functions.
  • Rely on internal IT teams or MSPs and need unbiased validation of their cybersecurity efforts.
  • Seek clarity and better define roles, responsibilities, and service expectations within their IT and cybersecurity operations.
  • Value regular, easy-to-understand reporting that supports strategic planning and continuous improvement.
BENEFITS OF CYBER OVERWATCH
Our structured approach

CohnReznick follows a structured approach to Cyber Overwatch:

1

Establish responsibilities

We begin by working with your management and IT teams to define clear roles and responsibilities. This includes documenting a shared responsibility matrix to understand who is accountable for each aspect of your IT and cybersecurity program.

2

Agree on baseline

We'll review your current system configurations, patch levels, and compliance against industry standards. This baseline helps us understand where you stand and sets the foundation for measuring progress.

3

Generate metrics

We regularly obtain meaningful metrics from your environment to review the performance of your IT and cybersecurity functions. These metrics provide objective data on how well your organization is managing IT and cybersecurity risks and meeting service expectations.

4

Report on metrics

We conduct monthly reviews and provide clear, actionable reports that highlight successes, challenges, and areas needing attention.

5

Identify areas of improvement

Finally, we analyze the data and feedback to identify recurring issues and opportunities to enhance management’s decision-making ability.
