CohnReznick’s Fred Copeman honored with 2016 Affordable Housing Vision Award

Fred Copeman Honored with 2016 Affordable Housing Vision AwardBoston, MA – November 2, 2016 – In recognition of his stewardship and expansion of affordable housing opportunities for low-income families nationwide, Fred Copeman, Esq., Principal and National Director of Tax Credit Investment Services at CohnReznick LLP, was honored with the 2016 Affordable Housing Vision Award.  The National Housing and Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) presents the award annually to champions of affordable housing and community development for their service, commitment, imagination, and valuable contributions to the field.  Copeman received the award at the NH&RA Fall Developers Forum on November 1, in Boston at The Langham Hotel.

“This is a particular honor coming from an organization that has played a leading role in advocating for affordable housing for over forty years,” Copeman said. “I see the award as an acknowledgement of the progress we’ve all made in this vital field and a reminder of the goals we still have to work hard to meet. I look forward to sharing this honor with my CohnReznick Affordable Housing Industry Practice colleagues.”

Copeman leads CohnReznick's Tax Credit Investment Services practice which focuses on providing investment due diligence and other advisory services to institutional investors in tax credit projects. He is a nationally recognized authority in the affordable housing industry with extensive knowledge in low-income housing, historic rehabilitation, and renewable energy tax credit programs.

Copeman is a co-author of twelve studies of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, including a series of studies that measured the performance of affordable housing properties financed under the LIHTC program. The most recent study, “The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program at Year 30: An Operating Expense Analysis,” is the fifth in the series issued by CohnReznick and the first that measures operating expenses on affordable housing tax credit properties.

Beth Mullen, National Director of CohnReznick's Affordable Housing Industry Practice, said, “Fred is a nationally-known affordable housing industry authority, so we are all gratified to see him honored for his diligent and innovative work in this important field.”

Copeman will join such previous Vision Award honorees as the late Boston mayor Tom Menino, Jack Manning of Boston Capital, former Congressman Barney Frank, Lisa Alberghini of the Boston Archdiocese Planning Office for Urban Affairs, and CohnReznick’s own John Mackey, a retired partner of the Firm.
