Mark A. Spelker

Mark A. Spelker is an audit and technical consulting partner at CohnReznick who serves as the National Director of SEC Services. Based in the Roseland, NJ office, he specializes in public companies and has 35 years of diversified public accounting experience.
As the National Director of SEC Services, Mark aligns internal infrastructure and practice support in order to ensure quality in serving the public company market. He drives the education and training of our Public Company Audit Practice which is focused on updating CohnReznick partners about the capital markets, SEC independence, and other issues related to serving our public client base. His client base is comprised of public companies, such as biotechnology and multi-national firms, as well as private companies.
An expert in his field, Mark serves as a member of both the Professional Practice Executive Committee and the Smaller Firm Task Force for the AICPA’s Center for Audit Quality. He was a contributing author for the book, Intellectual Property Operations and Implementation in the 21st Century Corporation, providing content for a chapter entitled, “The Financial Reporting Impact of Intellectual Property Activity.” In addition, Mark has been quoted in several publications, including Venture Capital Journal and the Journal of Accountancy, and has appeared in AICPA continuing professional education videos.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mark spent 15 years with Big 4 firms servicing several Fortune 500 companies as well as many middle market businesses. He currently serves on the Villanova School of Business Accounting Advisory Council where he advises the accountancy and information systems department on its strategic plan, provides ideas for course development, and addresses issues facing the accounting profession. He is currently a part-time lecturer in the Accounting and Information Systems Department of Rutgers University and has been an adjunct lecturer in the Economics Department of Drew University and the Accounting, Law, and Taxation Department of Montclair State University.
