James Vincent is Managing Director of CohnReznick Realty Capital Advisors, a joint venture between FrontLine Partners and CohnReznick. His primary focus is providing investment banking and capital raise services in the multifamily sector (including affordable/workforce housing). Primary services encompass equity capital raising (asset, entity, and programmatic JVs), business strategy and transaction advisory services (including M&A and restructuring), and buy-side capital deployment for institutional investors.
James has over 35 years of industry experience with a number of leading real estate and financial services firms, such as GE, Nomura, CBRE, and Kenneth Leventhal. He has a notable track record of building multimillion-dollar growth platforms and turning around business units and teams. He has extensive experience with corporate strategy, acquisitions, and merger integration, in addition to the specific highlights noted below, most germane to his current set of responsibilities.
CAPITAL RAISE
$42M entity recap for Top 20 affordable housing owner/operator, $100M programmatic JV equity capital (Top 40 affordable owner, paired with life company), $100M programmatic JV capital for preservation (Top 10 tax credit syndicator). Actively working on $200M buy-side equity deployment (into affordable) and $100M programmatic JV capital for workforce housing. TIC (Tenant-in-Common) rescue capital ($75M lead capital/sponsor firm), regional hotel operator, CTL merchant banking business, bridge round for artificial intelligence company, roll-up of software companies/BPO platform.
RESTRUCTURING
Restructured $5B+ in commercial real estate debt, including seven entity-level workouts. Ran 50/50 JV with Reznick (2009-2012). Entity workout of Top 20 affordable housing owner to avoid bankruptcy. Led corporate workout ($850M junior loan on $4B REIT – (Spirit Finance)) for Highland Capital restructuring subsidiary.
