James Kim provides valuations of closely-held businesses, business interests, intangible assets, intellectual property, financial instruments, equity and debt investments, contingent consideration, and derivatives (including stock options and option-embedded securities). These valuations are conducted for a variety of purposes including mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, litigation support, strategic planning, and tax planning and reporting.

Purchase price allocations and impairment analyses to comply with FASB ASC 805: Business Combinations, FASB ASC 350: Intangibles – Goodwill and Other, and FASB ASC 360: Property, Plant, and Equipment
Valuation analysis for tax planning and compliance including appraisals performed for estate and gift tax reporting and domestic and international tax planning (reorganizations, restructuring, ownership/control changes, etc.)
Valuation consulting for business acquisitions and strategic management planning
Valuation of capital and carried interests, debt instruments, convertible notes, and other equity investments
Valuation of closely-held businesses for dispute and litigation purposes as well as qualified small business stock (QSBS) purposes
Audit assistance in review of valuation work performed by management and third-party specialists for financial reporting requirements
Buy-side due diligence engagements related to quality of projections and in-depth analysis of drivers of value and economics
Previous experience working in the valuation services group of two global tax and accounting firms
