As the 114th Congress takes seat and we have a return of a Republican majority in both houses, what can we expect to be the impact of this mid-term election and what does the new Congress mean for the LIHTC program?

You are invited to an exclusive, executive roundtable to hear from CohnReznick thought leaders – Beth Mullen, Partner and Affordable Housing Industry National Director, and Bob Moss, Principal and National Director of Governmental Affairs – as they discuss with you these and other technical issues affecting our industry.

  • What is the current state of the affordable housing industry and what are the trends we are we seeing?
  • What do we expect for the Extenders and will Congress act to secure the 9% fixed LIHTC for allocations made next year?
  • Have the prospects for tax reform improved, gotten worse, or stayed the same?
  • If the prospects have not changed, what will prevent enactment of tax reform?
  • What does a Republican Finance Committee mean for the relative standing of the housing credit?
  • Is FY16 Sequestration possible and how will it impact appropriations?
  • What's new in the IRS LIHTC Audit Guide and how does it impact the deal?
  • What changes are happening in the equity environment and what challenges and opportunities does this present?

Beth Mullen, CPA, is the National Director of the Firm’s Affordable Housing Industry Practice, and a member of the Firm’s Tax Practice Executive Committee.  She has more than 25 years of experience providing consulting, tax, and accounting services to real estate owners and developers and the community redevelopment industry. A significant portion of Beth’s time is devoted to helping put deals together by structuring public/private partnerships that are financed in part by Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, the federal and state historic tax credit programs, the federal New Markets Tax Credit Program, and energy tax credits, and historic rehabilitation tax credits.

Bob Moss is the National Director of Governmental Affairs at CohnReznick and leads all federal and state government relations efforts with a focus on the affordable housing industry. Bob has nearly 30 years of affordable, multifamily housing experience including syndication, preservation and development.  He is the Chairman of the non-partisan Housing Advisory Group. He currently serves as Vice President of the board for the National Leased Housing Association, and is active with the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and the ACTION Rental Housing Campaign.

Bill Riley, CPA, CGMA, is a partner in CohnReznick’s New York office and the Northeast Regional Director of the Firm’s Affordable Housing Industry Practice. He is broadly recognized as a leading authority in the areas of real estate and housing. In the course of his 42-year career in public accounting, Bill has worked across a variety of vertical industries, including: tax incentivized real estate tax credit programs (including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, the federal New Markets Tax Credit program and federal and state historic tax credit programs), not-for-profit; municipal, state, and federal government agencies; construction; real estate; financial services; and retail, as well as small and large commercial businesses.
