Renee Mathews is a partner in CohnReznick’s Bethesda office with more than 20 years of experience in accounting, tax, and financial management. She provides audit services for various organizations in the real estate, mortgage lending, and hospitality industries. As an office leader in the commercial real estate and hospitality industries, Renee has a wide range of experience in challenges unique to these industries. Her clients have included HUD lenders, DUS lenders, real estate investment funds, mortgage investment funds, tax credit investment funds, nursing homes, owners of hotels, condos (new construction and conversion), and multi-family residential properties (affordable and market rate).

During her career, Renee has served as controller for a Bethesda-based multifamily mortgage banker that originated loans for commercial conduits, as well as HUD, and issued Ginnie Mae Backed Securities. In addition, while serving as Chief Financial Officer for a Montgomery County, Maryland real estate developer, she was responsible for oversight of subsidiaries in the property management, construction, and single family mortgage lending industries.

Together with her client responsibilities, Renee has served on the board of directors for two Washington, D.C. area nonprofits, joined two school boards in an officer position, and led firm leadership training and cultural initiatives.
