CohnReznick LLP Announces Promotions to Partner/Principal


New York, NY – CohnReznick LLP, one of the leading accounting, tax, and advisory firms in the United States, announced the election of seven new professionals to its partnership as of February 1, 2015.

New York/New Jersey Region

Asael Meir, CPA, partner, is based in the Firm’s Long Island, NY office. He works closely with business owners and management teams of both privately held and publicly listed companies who are seeking guidance regarding acquisitions, divestitures, and raising capital. With more than 15 years of experience providing assurance and financial reporting services, Asael developed expertise serving technology companies, as well as hospitality and retail and consumer products companies. Prior to joining CohnReznick, Asael worked in the Middle-East, Asia, Europe and the United States, which provides unique business insight to clients. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from King’s College London, University of London.

New England Region

Mark Livingston, CPA, partner, works in the Firm’s Hartford, CT office. He has more than 18 years of experience. Within the Firm’s Tax Practice, Mark specializes in federal tax and works primarily with large corporations, both public and private. He has extensive experience working with consolidated returns, ASC 740, mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, IRS exams, and similar matters. Throughout his career, Mark has worked with a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, software, retail, and renewable energy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bryant University and a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Hartford.

Mid-Atlantic Region

Jeremy Colville, CPA, partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Bethesda, MD office. With more than 14 years of experience in the areas of auditing, taxation, and consulting, he has worked in several different industries, including commercial real estate, hospitality, regulated and non-regulated residential real estate, construction, not-for-profit, and private equity funds. Jeremy is involved in all functions of the audit, including designing audit approach, evaluation of internal controls, supervising staff, executing detail test work, and financial statement review. Jeremy has thorough knowledge of GAAP and GAAS requirements. He has provided continuing education courses for Firm staff on auditing construction, auditing real estate, and use of Firm-specific audit software. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Frostburg State University.

Richard Davies, CPA, partner, is based in the Firm’s Bethesda, MD office and has been a member of the Commercial Real Estate Industry Practice for nine years. He has 20 years of experience in accounting and finance. Richard specializes in historic rehabilitation and qualified low-income community investment transactions. His experience includes financial structuring, financial projections, due-diligence, and valuation-related services. He has worked with and advised developers, community development entities, investors, and lenders on complex transactions that include multiple types of credits and other challenging structuring issues.  Richard’s tax credit transaction experience has included several hundred properties throughout the country.  He has spoken at numerous conferences on the subjects of the New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) Program and historic tax credits. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from University of Maryland, College Park.

Kayla Gross, principal, is based CohnReznick’s Baltimore, MD office. With more than 11 years of experience, she is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate Industry Practice. Kayla specializes in real estate finance and community development with a concentration in historic tax credits, new markets tax credits, and renewable energy tax credits. She provides transaction advisory and consulting services to real estate developers, CDEs, lenders, investors, and syndicators nationwide. She assists her clients in transaction structuring, financial projections, and transaction negotiations and has closed hundreds of tax credit transactions throughout the country. Additionally, Kayla lends her expertise presenting at conferences and workshops about various tax credit programs. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northeastern University.

South/Central Region

Nicholas S. Mathias, CPA, partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Charlotte, NC office and a member of the Firm’s Assurance Practice. He has over 11 years of experience with the Firm. In that time, his focus has been on audit and attestation services. Nic has concentrated on multifamily real estate projects, renewable energy, housing authority, and not-for-profit clients. These services include financial statement audits, agreed-upon procedures, and the evaluation of internal controls, as well as keeping clients updated on industry and government required standards. Nic holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Finance and a Master of Science in Accounting, both from Wake Forest University.

West Region

Brian Brewer, CPA, partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Sacramento, CA office. He has more than 15 years of audit, finance, tax, and accounting experience in public accounting. Brian’s industry experience includes serving not-for-profit organizations; commercial and residential real estate owners and developers; multifamily properties, including Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and historic tax credit projects; construction contractors; and high technology companies. He provides these clients with a variety of services, such as financial statement audits and tax return preparation, assessments of organizational structures and recommendations to strengthen their internal control and revenue recognition procedures, employee benefit plan audits, and government contract and regulation compliance. He has a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Santa Clara University.
