Nick Mautone Joins CohnReznick LLP


New York, NY – February 20, 2013 – Nick Mautone, former managing partner of Gramercy Tavern and founder of Mautone Enterprises, a food service, management, and consulting firm, has joined CohnReznick LLP, the 11th largest accounting, tax, and advisory firm in the United States, as a consultant. Nick will work with the Firm’s Hospitality Industry Practice, handling projects for restaurants and hotels with food and beverage programs.

Mautone has spent most of his professional life in the hospitality and food service industries. He began his career working for his grandfather’s company, Brunetto Cheese in Yonkers, NY. Working within the framework of his family business, Nick shaped the core values upon which his subsequent career has been based.

In 1982, along with his three brothers and three sisters, Mautone opened “American Pie” on Manhattan’s Upper Westside, which served as a New York City favorite for nine years.

In 1990, Mautone turned his focus to the fine dining arena. He has spent time working on the management team of some of the country’s top restaurants including Gotham Bar and Grill, Hudson River Club, and Gramercy Tavern.  During this time he honed his expertise in operational management.  He handled staff training and education, increased overall restaurant profitability, oversaw the day-to-day operations of a multifaceted facility including a large-format, in-house catering facility, an off-premise catering business handling parties of 1,000 or more guests, and an à la carte dining room which served hundreds of diners daily.

Currently, Mautone operates a comprehensive food service, management, and consulting company. Mautone Enterprises is a forward-thinking organization focused on extraordinary levels of excellence, balanced leadership, and community involvement.  Mautone Enterprises has consulted on critically acclaimed restaurants and hotels nationwide.  The company also helps celebrity chefs develop new concepts and works with beverage companies to assist in their marketing and brand management, training of sales and distribution teams, new product development, and mixology.

Mautone authored his first book, “Raising the Bar: Better Drinks, Better Entertaining” published by Artisan and released in November of 2004, and is currently working on his second and third book projects. He has been a contributor to Everyday With Rachael Ray, Cargo and Chow magazines, as well as a guest on more than 30 television and radio programs educating people about food, wine, and spirits. He is a board member of the New York State Restaurant Association’s Manhattan chapter and sits on its legislative council. He also has been the keynote speaker at lectures given by the Restaurant Association.

Strongly believing in active participation in the community, Mautone works with many local and national charities. He is an active board member of City Harvest and has been an advisor and fundraiser to other non-profits focused on hunger relief and poverty alleviation.
