Jay Kaufman has almost 40 years of experience in public accounting and is based in the Boston office. He provides accounting, auditing, and consulting services to clients in industries that have included real estate, education, not-for-profit organizations and foundations, government, construction and other contracting companies, investment funds, service industries, manufacturing, and retail. The majority of his career has been focused on the real estate, not-for-profit, and education industries and in serving clients such as real estate development and management entities, entities that own and operate HUD-insured, state housing agency, and conventionally financed multifamily rental real estate properties (market rate, affordable, low-income housing tax credit and historic tax credit properties), state universities and a related foundation, and a state building authority.
Prior to joining the Firm, Jay served at an accounting firm as director of accounting and auditing, and also had client service responsibilities. He was responsible for monitoring the overall quality of the firm’s accounting and auditing performance, its adherence to professional practice standards, and for providing technical assistance and consultation on accounting and auditing matters. Jay maintained a leadership role within the firm related to implementing the latest changes in requirements of the Consolidated HUD Audit Guide. He also served as a designated member in the AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center.
