Cynthia Romano named to Crain's 2021 Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting List
New York, NY – September 20, 2021 – CohnReznick LLP, one of the leading advisory, assurance, and tax firms in the United States, today announced that Cynthia Romano, Principal and Global Director in the firm’s Restructuring and Dispute Resolution practice, has been recognized by Crain's New York Business as one of its 2021 Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting. Each year, the publication acknowledges top women in accounting and consulting who hold senior leadership positions at public accounting firms or consultancies serving middle market and enterprise clients.
Romano has more than 25 years of experience in performance improvement, turnaround management, transaction support, and investment analysis. Her clients span a wide variety of industries including health care, retail, financial services, family-owned business, and manufacturing. Since joining CohnReznick in 2019, Romano and co-practice leader and Global Director Kevin Clancy have led the significant and profitable expansion of the firm’s Restructuring and Dispute Resolution practice, growing it from a niche NY/NJ- based practice with nine professionals to a national practice with 29 full-time professionals, including six partners. Romano’s client work has been recognized by the restructuring industry with numerous awards including 2021 Turnaround of the Year (Global M&A Network), 2020 Turnaround and Transaction of the Year Award (Turnaround Management Association), and 2020 Out of Court Restructuring of the Year Award (Global M&A Network). In 2021, Romano was named one of the top women in asset-based lending by ABF Journal.
“Cynthia’s impressive business acumen; dedication to her clients, community, and colleagues; and passion for elevating women in the profession are just some of the many reasons she is so well-deserving of this recognition from Crain’s New York Business,” said CohnReznick CEO David Kessler. “CohnReznick clients in stressed, distressed, and transitional situations have come to rely on Cynthia and her team for expertise that helps them optimize the outcomes of business situations that are often untenable.”
Adds Clancy, “It is a privilege to co-lead our practice with an exceptional professional like Cynthia. I’m delighted that her professional and philanthropic endeavors are being recognized through her inclusion in the Crain’s 2021 Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting list.”
The Crain’s list recognizes women leaders in accounting and consulting serving in a senior leadership role who have also assumed a leadership position outside of their own organization or company including professional organizations and civic/community service initiatives. Nominees had to be working at a public accounting firm (of 25+ employees) that services middle market and enterprise clients with more than $25 million in revenue. Additionally, the nominee must be based within the five boroughs of New York City or the counties of Westchester, Bergen, Nassau, or Rockland.
