Shahryar Shaghaghi Joins CohnReznick to Lead Cybersecurity Advisory
New York, NY – February 5, 2018 – CohnReznick LLP, one of the leading accounting, tax, and advisory firms in the United States, has announced that Shahryar Shaghaghi, MSc has joined the firm as a Principal and will lead Cybersecurity Advisory for the firm.
Despite the continuous increase in cyber threats, CohnReznick’s recent global cybersecurity survey revealed that most companies have not adequately addressed their cyber security and response programs and cited limited time and lack of qualified staff as key reasons for this shortfall. “Augmenting our cybersecurity team with the addition of Shahryar’s leadership, is one of the ways CohnReznick is responding to this complex client issue,” stated Keith Denham, Managing Principal of CohnReznick Advisory.
Shahryar has more than 20 years of technology and risk management leadership experience, working with technology, risk, compliance, and security executives. His engagements include complex and global implementations across a wide variety of industries and client sizes. Shahryar is a recognized thought leader on cybersecurity and was a member of the AICPA’s Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) and Assurance Services Executive Committee (ASEC) Cybersecurity working groups, and developed the cybersecurity attestation service (SOC for Cybersecurity) that will help auditors identify cyber risks.
Prior to joining CohnReznick, Shahryar was Managing Partner of CyTech Partners LLC, where he was responsible for leading clients in cybersecurity and technology transformation. Previously, he led Technology Advisory and Cybersecurity for BDO Consulting. He also led Citigroup’s Corporate Center Office of Information Security, where he worked with the C-Suite and Board to lead complex security initiatives, drive regulatory compliance efforts, and help protect the Bank’s brand at a time of significant cyber vulnerability. Shahryar is a former Partner with Deloitte Consulting, where he formed and led their first information security consulting offerings; and spent the early part of his career with PwC and Andersen Consulting, now Accenture.
“Cyber is not just a technology issue; it’s a business strategy issue that must be viewed and addressed holistically. Shahryar’s experience and proven cyber leadership will help us stay at the forefront of providing best-in-class solutions to our clients’ risk management issues,” said Dave Rubin, Principal and Risk and Business Advisory National Director.
