CohnReznick LLP Announces Promotions to Partner/Principal


New York, NY – CohnReznick LLP, the 11th largest accounting, tax, and advisory firm in the United States, announced the election of 11 professionals to its partnership as of February 1, 2014.

“This year, we are proud to have 11 individuals whose leadership has been recognized by both our staff and our clients. Their election to the partnership is a direct reflection of the exceptional contributions each has made to the Firm,” said Tom Marino, Co-CEO.

“Each of these professionals has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the success of the Firm and its people,” added Ken Baggett, Co-CEO. “I’m excited to see how this commitment will grow as they take on their new leadership positions.”

New York/New Jersey Region

Gil Bernhard, CPA, Partner, is based in CohnReznick’s headquarters in New York, NY and has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting. Gil serves as Co-Managing Director of the Firm’s Healthcare Industry Practice, concentrating on healthcare audit, financial management and reimbursement issues. His clients include Federally Qualified Health Centers, behavioral healthcare organizations, AIDS/HIV agencies, healthcare trade associations, and other not-for-profit health corporations. Gil received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Maine.

Peter R. Epp, CPA, Partner, serves as Co-Managing Director of CohnReznick’s Healthcare Industry Practice alongside Bernhard. Based in New York, NY, Peter has more than 25 years of experience, and is a nationally recognized expert in ambulatory healthcare reimbursement and financing. He has been actively involved with health reform and the implementation of reimbursement systems for ambulatory care across the country. Peter’s clients include both federally and non-federally funded organizations, including Federally Qualified Health Centers and other ambulatory healthcare providers, hospital and health systems, managed care entities, social service agencies, and other non-profit organizations. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Stephanie O’Rourk, CPA, Partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Jericho, NY office and leads the efforts of the Firm’s Hospitality Industry Practice in Long Island. With more than 20 years of public accounting experience in both audit and tax, Stephanie has worked closely with entrepreneurs, advising her clients on best practices and tax efficient strategies. Having worked with several of the nation’s leading hospitality growth concepts, Stephanie oversees the Firm’s nationwide initiative on emerging concept companies. She specializes in businesses that operate one to 20 units, and has helped implement best practices and industry standard reporting and financial controls for numerous hospitality companies. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She reached the role of Partner while working a part-time schedule.

Corey Rosenthal, JD, Principal, leads CohnReznick’s State and Local Tax (SALT) Practice in the Firm’s New York, NY offices. Corey has more than 22 years of SALT experience, which includes income/franchise, sales and use, personal income, property, escheat, and employment-related tax issues. Corey has also been involved with multistate studies, restructuring of entities, and assistance with state audits – from pre-audit planning through negotiations and protest. He has also developed stellar governmental relationships with the taxing authorities. Corey received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College, and his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law.

Alan M. Wohl, CPA, Partner, has more than 15 years of diversified public accounting experience. He leads the efforts of our Firm’s Entrepreneurial Services Group in New York, NY and is a member of the Firm’s Private Client Services Group.  He provides such specialized services as business strategy for high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and multigenerational families and strategic tax planning and compliance for senior management in such industries as real estate, hospitality, and entertainment. In addition Alan spends a large part of his time advising on family wealth and family office matters. Alan received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the City University of New York, Bernard M. Baruch College.

New England Region

Jonathan R. Collett, CPA, Partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Glastonbury, CT office. As a member of the Financial Services Industry Practice, Jonathan specializes in providing tax services to CohnReznick’s New England and New York Metro clients. Jon provides tax compliance, structuring, and consulting services to offshore and domestic hedge fund, fund of fund, private equity, and venture capital entities.  Jon serves companies that range from privately held businesses to large, multinational corporations. His experience also includes providing tax consulting services related to tax provisions and tax-preparation services to public clients. He has extensive experience in the areas of partnerships, estate and gift tax, and high-net-worth individuals. Jon received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, and his Master of Arts in Taxation from the University of New Haven.

Mid-Atlantic Region

Ryan Henigan, CPA, Partner, leads the efforts of the Construction Industry Practice in CohnReznick’s Baltimore, MD office. Ryan has 15 years of experience providing audit and management advisory services to a variety of national and local real estate developers, homebuilders, general contractors, and sub-contractors. He has extensive experience assessing internal control structures of clients and providing recommendations for improvement. Ryan is also an expert in contractor cost certification reporting in accordance with federal and state agency affordable housing requirements. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mount St. Mary’s University.

Ken Slater, CPA, Partner, is based in CohnReznick’s Bethesda, MD office. Ken has more than 17 years of experience in providing audit, tax, and management advisory services to various types of real estate entities and not-for-profit organizations. He specializes in affordable housing and serves clients through CohnReznick’s national practice that include developers, investors, for-profit and not-for-profit owners, management companies, real estate funds, and tax credit investment funds. Ken received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park.

South/Central Region

Jason Burian, CPA, Partner, leads the efforts of the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate Industry Practice in the Chicago, IL office. He is a member of the Firm’s Assurance Practice and has 12 years of experience in public accounting, providing clients such services as audit, compilations, compliance, due diligence, agreed-upon procedures, and other accounting services. His clients include real estate operating companies, real estate syndicators, real estate investment funds, and real estate developers. Jason specializes in the audits of commercial real estate entities, developments benefitting from the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and employee benefit plans. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and his MBA from Eastern Illinois University.

Linda Rowland, CPA, Partner, is based in the Firm’s Atlanta, GA office and is a member of the Firm’s Affordable Housing Industry Practice and Not-for-Profit and Education Industry Practice. With over 15 years in public accounting, she has diverse experience in providing income tax compliance, income tax planning, and business consulting services as well as planning, supervision, and review of partnership, corporate, non-profit and individual tax clients. Linda concentrates in the area of Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credits and Not-for-Profits. She provides tax and consulting services to developers and syndicators in the affordable housing industry as well as market-rate multifamily properties and non-profit foundations.  Her clients include developers, non-profit housing organizations, high- net- worth individuals and closely held corporations across the United States. Linda received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Elon University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Guilford College.

West Region

Garrett Ushiyama, CPA, Partner, is a member of the Firm’s Assurance Practice and is based in CohnReznick’s Los Angeles, CA office. Garrett has more than 25 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to public and privately-held companies across a broad range of industries with domestic and international operations. Garrett’s industry exposure includes renewable energy, commercial and residential real estate development, hospitality, REITs, construction, IP/technology/software, manufacturing and distribution, e-commerce, and not-for-profit.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University at Northridge.
