CohnReznick LLP Announces Leadership Changes in Three Offices

New York, NY – CohnReznick LLP, the 11th largest accounting, tax, and advisory firm in the United States, has announced the following changes to its leadership as of February 1, 2014.

Bethesda, MD

Jim Martinko, CPA, will serve as the sole Office Managing Partner of CohnReznick’s Bethesda, MD office. David Kessler, CPA, who shared the role with Martinko, will focus his full-time efforts on leading the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate Industry Practice.

With more than 20 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax, and management advisory services to national and local clients, Martinko will continue to lead the robust office and drive its efforts in the marketplace. Located just outside of Washington, DC, CohnReznick’s Bethesda office has approximately 400 employees.

“We know that Jim will lead with much continued success and we thank David for his leadership and the many contributions he has brought to the Bethesda office,” said Ken Baggett, Co-CEO. “This transition will also help ensure our continued growth and position as a leader in the commercial real estate industry.”

The Firm’s prestigious commercial real estate client roster includes developers, owners, and institutional investors, including private equity funds, pension funds, insurance companies, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and REITs. CohnReznick professionals are experienced with many asset classes including multifamily, hotel and hospitality, office, industrial, retail, home builders, land developers, student and military housing, and nursing and assisted living.

Sacramento, CA

Eric Jones, CPA, MST, has been promoted to Office Managing Partner of the Firm’s Sacramento, CA office. As a tax partner, Eric has been an important member of the Firm for 10 years, with broad tax experience in a variety of industries including manufacturing and distribution, wholesaling, and real estate. This move enables Beth Mullen, CPA, previous Office Managing Partner, to dedicate her full time attention to the substantial efforts required to lead CohnReznick’s Affordable Housing Industry Practice, which has grown to be a more than $100 million initiative for the Firm.

“Eric has been instrumental in the growth of the Sacramento office, almost since inception,” said Mullen. “Having worked side by side during his tenure, there is no doubt this will be a smooth, successful transition.” CohnReznick's Sacramento office has approximately 50 employees, providing audit, tax, and advisory services to the public sector and middle-market companies with focus areas that include real estate, not-for-profit, and renewable energy. Located within a few blocks of the California state capitol building, the office is the Northern California anchor for the Firm and also serves as a major hub for the Firm's Affordable Housing Industry Practice.

San Diego, CA

Mark Hooley, CPA, has accepted the role of Office Managing Partner of the San Diego, CA office. Mark has been with the Firm since 2003 and has more than 15 years of experience providing audit and consulting services to both publicly traded and privately held companies. Southern California represents a strategic growth market for the Firm’s dedicated renewable energy, technology, and life sciences practices. Mark’s experience in these industries will enhance CohnReznick’s already strong presence in the Southern California market place. Mark succeeds Wade McKnight, who is retiring after six years of service to the Firm. Mark assumes this new role immediately, transferring from the Firm’s Tysons Corner, VA office.

“Mark will bring an extraordinary depth of experience to the San Diego market across key industry sectors, most notably renewable energy and technology,” said Tom Fassett, Regional Managing Partner – West. “We congratulate Wade on his leadership and the legacy he is leaving in San Diego.” Established locally in 1978, the San Diego office is home to approximately 30 employees and was named a “Best Place to Work” by the San Diego Business Journal in 2013.
