Firm Spokesperson Joe Torre Supports Event at Opening Ceremonies
Roseland, NJ – CohnReznick LLP, the 10th largest accounting, tax, and advisory firm in the U.S., through its CohnReznick Foundation and CohnReznick CARES initiative, donated a total of $150,000 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) and the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation at its 23rd Annual Charity Golf Invitational held on July 21, 2014. Over the past eight years, CohnReznick’s outing has raised a combined total of more than $1.3 million for these two organizations.
Longtime supporter Capital One Bank was the presenting sponsor of the outing, which hosted more than 100 golfers and special guests at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, NJ. Other major sponsors included Epstein, Becker & Green, P.C. and Lord Abbett.
The CohnReznick Foundation supports children in need, from young children to college students. SOWF provides college scholarship grants, financial aid, and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in an operational mission or training accident. The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation is devoted to ending the cycle of domestic violence and loss of life through Margaret's Place and other programs, including school-wide anti-violence campaigns, developmental workshops focusing on coping and leadership skills, and educational forums for school staff and parents.
CohnReznick spokesperson and recent 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Joe Torre was present for the day’s opening ceremonies, offering his deep thanks for the support his organization receives from the many charitable people in attendance. Torre rode the course to take photos and share a handshake, and a story or two, with the participants.
Accepting the award for SOWF were Vice Admiral Joe Maguire, U.S. Navy, Retired and General Bryan “Doug” Brown, USA, Retired, who both participated in the golf activities during the day. Joe Maguire is currently the President of SOWF, and has served as Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning at the National Counterterrorism Center in Washington and was a career Naval Special Warfare Officer (SEAL) retiring as Vice Admiral. Doug Brown is President of Tier 4 Consulting, LLC. In his 40- year career in the Army, General Brown was involved in combat operations in Vietnam, Grenada, Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and others.
Dalia Munoz, an SOWF scholarship recipient who lost her father, Army SFC Pedro A. Munoz, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), while he served in Afghanistan in 2005, spoke to the crowd about the impact SOWF has had on her and her family. She is now a college graduate and works with SOWF as a Financial Aid Counselor to help those just like her achieve academic success.

"We were fortunate to enjoy such a beautiful day with friends of the Firm who are committed to the good works that Special Operations and the Safe At Home foundations do for children. Each year we are humbled by the support we receive and continue to take pride in the impact the funds raised have had and will continue to have," said Cohen.
